As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to a life of freedom, throwing off modern bondage to embrace our original mandate: tending, keeping, and redeeming God’s earth. In a world that has lost its way, we stand on a baseline of truth, reaffirming that we worship only the Creator and never the creation. From the dawn of time, the majesty and presence of God have been clearly witnessed through what He has made, and the care of this earth was given to us as a sacred responsibility. True, God-given dominion is not a license to abuse, plunder, or extract for selfish gain; it is a holy covenant to protect and cultivate the territory of the King. We are not the owners of this world, for the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.
For the Christian, creation care is a radical act of discipleship, a summons to exit the brickyards of institutional dependency and return to the soil to work it and take care of it. God designed a good, sustainable earth, rich with natural cycles meant to provide abundant physical life. Yet, through human sin and systemic greed, humanity has polluted and defiled the ground, treating creation as a commodity to be depleted rather than a sanctuary to be renewed. This systemic brokenness acts as a threat multiplier—poisoning our air, water, and soil, destroying biodiversity, and inflicting the greatest suffering on the poorest of God’s children through food and water insecurity.
But we do not look to overreaching bureaucratic systems or corporate monoliths to heal what only a repentant, covenant people can restore. The Bible teaches us that God is not only redeeming souls, but is restoring the entire created order, and He has chosen to work through us. His Kingdom is a kingdom of love, and we have been given a radical commission to spread that love to the ends of the earth. This means we do not mirror the hostility of the world; instead, we walk in the transformative power of the Gospel, explicitly choosing to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, and overcome evil with good.
Christ has triumphed, and all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him. He did not call His church to sit idly by, merely holding on for heaven while the world decays around us. Instead, He has handed us the keys of the Kingdom and the sword of the Spirit, empowering us to walk in His divine authority right now. We are called to actively bind the spiritual forces of evil and tear down spiritual strongholds, releasing the captives into true freedom. By stepping into this authority, we show our love for the Savior by reaching the lost, and we show our love for the Creator by caring for His creation.
We urge every believer to break free from the weights of consumer culture, to ground their families in deep biblical community, and to experience the joy of walking with God in the coolness of the Garden. Together, we approach this mission with humility and courage, using the keys we have been given to cultivate the soil and the soul. We are driving back darkness, setting people free from spiritual strongholds, and establishing oases of faith that will leave a sovereign, life-giving legacy for generations to come.
